Deb + Dave

March 29, 2025 by Jamima Wu

Family is the most treasured bond between people and becoming married is all about cementing that sacred bond between two people as family and joining themselves and their extended families together as one. For Deb and Dave bringing their two families together meant the world to them, their love for each other and their blended family truly shone through on the day.

In this case I had the absolute privilege and honour to marry the lovely Deb (my husband Malachi’s aunty through her first marriage) to her beloved Dave. My husband’s late grandfather pastor Denzil Humphries officiated Deb’s first marriage to his son and so it’s a full circle moment that the torch has been passed onto me in the family to help aunty Deb celebrate her love and life with Dave. I have always loved catching up with aunty Deb and her girls on our visits to Perth, she’d always greet you with a warm smile and hug. We then got to meet her darling Dave, who’s always up for a laugh and chat. So when they proposed the idea of flying us over to help them get hitched the answer was an absolute YES!

It took a village to come together and help Deb and Dave pull off a wedding that was a true reflection of their love and the wonderful family and friends they have surrounding them. My husband and I flew in the day before the wedding and got right into helping them set up the reception space at Perth’s City Farm. It was all hands on deck as their close-knit community of skilled friends and family pitched in to set up the bar, a stage for a live band, decorations and floral arrangements.

It was an unseasonal hot 37 degrees for Dave and Deb’s end of March wedding day. Their wedding ceremony was set within the grounds of Victoria Park, on the banks of the scenic Swan River. Our guests arrived and gathered under the shade of a large tree and were soon joined by Dave and his son Will.

Deb then arrived at the gardens with her bridal squad for a quick shot of tequila for good luck before making their grand entrance. We then got everyone into ceremony position and watched Dave and Deb’s beautiful daughters Holly, Meg and Daisy walk down the aisle before our stunning bride Deb walked in accompanied by her brother Chris.

Dave and Deb’s ceremony was full of heart and their vows brought bouts of joyous laughs and appreciation from the ones gathered. We then all came together for a whole group photo on the hill before our newlyweds and fam took off on a boat down the Swan River for a cruise.

Our wedding party continued over at City Farm where we enjoyed an epic evening celebrating our newlywed lovers with beautiful speeches, live entertainment, drinks and delicious tucker from food vans.

A truly memorable day celebrating Dave and Deb and the wonderful life they have made together.
