Maddy + Mark

“A celebrant that knows how to celebrate! Jam was warm, bubbly, enthusiastic and so kind. She made us feel at ease from the word go and gave such great energy to our love story. Her words were magical and not only had ourselves, but our family and friends in laughter, smiles and tears of happiness. People were talking about how beautiful our ceremony was for days!! We love Jam, thank you for making the process, and day so special and fun! Memories forever xx”

Maddy and Mark are a couple of sweethearts that will forever hold a special place in my heart. These two cuties work right next to my home and every morning I literally wave to them from my kitchen window as I see them pull up to the car park right in front of our house. So when they got engaged they’d see the ‘Celebrant Jam’ sign every morning on our house and then they saw that I had married a friend of theirs at the same wedding venue, they knew that it was meant to be.

Mark and Maddy met when Maddy started at her first full time job straight out of uni. Mark had also just graduated and started working at the same place and immediately took note of the ‘arty’ girl with the bright red hair. Over time Mark knew that he was drawn to Maddy and would often schedule important ‘work meetings’ in order to spend more time with her.

Mark eventually worked up the courage to ask Maddy out, only to end up taking a sickie that day and cheekily slid into Maddy’s Facebook DMs instead. Maddy was at first surprised at Mark’s interest, for she had assumed that he was just some sorta sports jock and not really her type, so she responded to his message with ‘Awwww that’s so sweet. I’ll think about it.’ Well it wasn’t a no! Mark still had hope and by the end of the week Mark had persuaded Maddy to go on a date with him on a day trip out to the Ashcombe Maze and gardens down in Mornington Peninsular.

On their first date they happily discovered that they both share a love of milkshakes and through the course of the day there was mounting tension of ‘will they/won’t they’. By the end of the day Mark made the decisive move and kissed Maddy in his blue Toyota Sportivo and won Maddy over. Maddy recalls going home that night and calling her mum to let her know that she had met someone special.

Mark and Maddy’s love blossomed, even through COVID and its long isolating lockdowns. They’d have zoom dates and plan to meet outdoors for walks and bike rides. Our lovers eventually moved in together into their own place so that Mark can wake up every morning to pinch Maddy’s adorable Dutch cheeks. That was also when Mark officially become cat-daddy to Maddy’s kitty Meeko, they have since completed their furry fam with kitty boy Mushu.

For Maddy and Mark’s wedding day they had assembled a stellar line up of wedding magic makers to help them realise a truly unique and vibrant celebration of their life to be shared with their nearest and dearest. Their ceremony, decked out in bold exotic floral arrangements by Rose Studio, took place under the big tree in the paddock of Collingwood Children’s Farm. The ceremony kicked off with Mark’s folks walking in first to the tune of ‘All You Need is Love’ by the Beatles. Maddy then wowed us as she walked in decked out in her stunning green wedding dress, accompanied by her love squad and loving mama.

Maddy and Mark’s ceremony and vows were full of lols and happy tears. All these precious moments were expertly captured by our talented photographer Kyra Boyer and videographer ninja Andrew from Bottlebrush. I live for the shots of our newlywed lovers storming the dancefloor at their reception with giant cardboard cut outs of their kittybabes Meeko and Mushu!

Thank you Maddy and Mark for inviting me to be a part of your colourful and love filled day.
And I will continue to wave to you both every morning from my kitchen window!

Chris + Mel

‘Jam is absolutely incredible! Her presence and magic made our special day the best it could possibly be. She asks all the right questions and seamlessly guides you through the entire thing. She captured my partner and I’s vibe entirely and made the night something we will not only remember forever; but everyone who attended will also remember forever!!! Tears of joy and laughter all around :) Thank you always!!!’

This couple of video gaming, car enthusiast mechanics wanted to get hitched on a Wednesday, midweek at the Ovolo hotel in Prahran and I said ‘Hells yeah! Let’s go!!!’

Our lovers had a chilled wedding day filled with doing what they love. They had booked to stay at the Ovolo hotel so they can wake up and lesuirely spend their wedding day getting ready together. Mel then popped down the road to get her make up done at the MECCA cosmetics, before they met up with their international photographer Sammy.

Mel and Chris then took Sammy along to one of their fav hang outs at ‘Akira’s’ on Chapel st for a spot of pre-ceremony fun amongst the arcade games.

For their ceremony, Chris and Mel had invited their closest family and friends to an afternoon celebrating their love and life together. Their ceremony was filled with light hearted laughs and beautiful sentiments. We spoke of their specially made engagement rings from local designer Kurt with green emeralds similar to the ones seen in Deku trees from The Legend of Zelda. And for their wedding bands, they were made by another local jewlller Jake. They were replica rings inspired from the ones worn by Howl and Sophie in Howl’s Moving Castle.

Mel and Chris had perfectly timed their ceremony so that 5 days after their wedding they were on a plane out to Japan for their honeymoon, just in time for the beginning of Cherry Blossom season.

Laura + Aisling

Laura and Aisling was a HINGE match made online in those carefree pre-COVID days. They bonded over talking conspiracy theories and found that they shared a similar sense of humour.

Our sweethearts went on a wonderful 1st date a week before Melbourne went into Lockdown #1, the one that lasted 43 days. They say absence makes the heart grow fonder. And thus through this time of distance and seperation our two babes stayed in daily contact and made up their own Netflix dates, where they’d watch a movie and facetime each other until the early hours. This is how you do romance!!!

In between Lockdown #1 and #2 Aisling and Laura were able to go on a cute date together to the museum, where they shared their first kiss. It was the day after Lockdown #2 came into effect where our two lovers acknowledged that this relationship was the real deal and it was something worth fighting for. As a result they logged hundres of hours just talking to each other and saw their love grow in a slow and steady pace.

Aisling and Laura emerged out of Lockdown #2 triumphant and it only took a week or so before Aisling knew that it was love. It happened so naturally that she simply woke up one morning knowing that Laura is the the person for her.

3 years into their relationship Aisling and Laura caught the wedding bug after going to an engagement party. They were inspired and wanted to create a day to celebrate their love. So naturally they then went and got some engagement bling made up. Our two darling lovers then became engaged on a Phillip Island getaway. Even though they had both brought the rings to propose, Laura had beat Aisling to the punch as she presented Aisling with her ring in bed whilst they listened to the early morining rain outside.

For Laura and Aisling’s wedding, they had dreamt up a beautiful day held at Laura’s parents’ private property in Castella. Our brides shared a beautiful first look moment before having their ceremony under the shade of a magnificent kurrajong tree. Our brides then drew names out of a hat to select their witnesses to sign the legal paperwork with them. And at the end of the ceremony guests were welcomed to come up and individually greet and congradulate our newlyweds.

For our newlywed Aisling and Laura’s reception, our guests were treated to some fun games and food truck yums. Our married wifies even got to (wo)man the ice-cream van to serve delicious desserts to their lucky guests.

A simply incredible day, celebrating Aisling and Laura’s love and shared life together!

Carmel + Peter

“We had the best day ever! Powered by our amazing celebrant, Jam. Jam made our wedding celebration wonderful. She brings boundless energy, joy and magic. She listened to us and crafted a ceremony that was tailor made to our love journey. We heartily recommend Jam to anyone looking to really celebrate on their wedding day.”

Peter and Carmel worlds collided in spectacular fashion on Valentine’s day 2015 at a mutual friend’s 30th birthday party in Fitzroy.

Carmel recalls meeting Peter at the party and thinking to herself ‘Who’s this? They are so kind and thoughtful.’ She also observed that Peter was very tall and lanky, especially as Peter was rocking a pair of giant heels. Carmel had never met anyone so intriguing and was captivated by Peter’s tales of travels and stint working as a ski instructor.

Peter was equally charmed by Carmel that fateful Valentine’s night. By the end of the evening our new party buddies found themselves laying side by side, holding hands in a circle on the cobble-stone floor of an old stable, as the soothing frequency of a sound bath ritual washed over them both. Carmel recalls feeling sparks fly when their hands touched during the meditation. In that moment as they held tightly onto each other’s hand Peter thought to themselves that this was it, they have found ‘The One’ and it just felt like they’ve known each other forever.

Early on in their courtship, on their 3rd encounter, they found themselves chatting on a bench in the main street of Maldon one freezing morning. A random witchy old lady stops in her tracks and proceed to declare to them both that she could see the love shining out of them.

A decade after their initial meeting our lovers come together to be joined in marriage and proudly shine their love bright.

For their wedding day held at Arthur’s Creek Mechanics Institute Hall, our radiant bride Carmel paused at the door to enter the ceremony, Peter then walks down to take her hand. They then walk up together hand in hand, as they do in life.

I then began the ceremony by inviting local Indegenous Wurrundjeri man Daniel Ross to come up and present a meaningful Welcome to Country address. It was a touching way to acknowledge and honour the land that we have gathered upon and the sacred ceremony that is taking place.

Carmel and Peter’s guests participated in a ring warming ritual during the ceremony. And the end of the ceremony our guests formed a tunnel of love joyously showering rose petals and ringing bells for our newlywed couple to walk through.

What a heartfelt and meaningful day fit for two radiant lifelong soulmates.

May your love continue to shine bright!
