Romantic Gothic Goddesses
I connected with the lovely Margeaux from The Distinctive Dame through the wedding world and we bonded over our love for the magical and beautiful. So when Margeaux was dreaming up a dark and moody styled shoot, I was 1000% HERE FOR IT!
This gothic styled shoot features 2 otherworldly goddesses coming together within the wonderful lush grounds of Scrub Hill in Newlyn, country Victoria. We had the talented Jennifer from Liminal Wonderland art directing behind the camera, as well as legendary videographer Dave there to capture the magic from the day. Our dream team on the day rounded off with Stacie from Pearl Creative Styling and Alana from Lucky Note Design, who worked on styling the opulent conservatory and gardens.
There are so many elements that goes into creating a WOW worthy wedding day and the same goes for a styled shoot. On the day I arrived early and got to catch up and have a chat with Scrub Hill owners Jente and Em, they have the sweetest little family and put so much heart into managing their beautiful venue and grounds.
Our MVP Margeaux then arrives on the scene, and I help her set up the wardrobe and accessories. Margeaux was able to source some exquisite accessories and custome made gowns, fit for any goddess, by the incredible Melbourne designer Gwendolynne.
Photographer Jennifer and Videographer Dave then gets in with all their cameras, gear and accessories along with stylist Stacie and her mate Alana with their boxes of goodies to set up the conservatory.
Our statuesque models EC and Violet gets the GLAM treatment by Margeaux and is fully transformed into their final goddess forms, by putting on their Gwendolynne gowns. They then begin the shoot by stepping into the wild and whimscal floral scene created inside the chapel by local Daylesford florist Elissa from Larkspur Flowers.
Margeaux worked her GLAM magic on me before I join our 2 goddesses in the conservatory for the 1st of our ceremony backdrops. Stacie and Alana was able to install a lush burgandy draped backdrop and aisle situation. I just love all the attention to detail, Alana spent time hand embroidering the black veil with the words ‘Til Death’.
We then had a frollick on the lawn before our goddesses changed into another outfit for an ethereal ceremony scene set against the enchanting grounds of Scrub Hill. We upped the ante with the use of a smoke machine and I am just blow away at seeing the smoke dance in the dappled shaft of light coming through the trees. That was some good magic right there!
I then farewelled the team before they had one more outfit change to shoot around the reception long table scape. It was a wonderfully long day that went all too quick as all the elements came together in creating the visual story. Such an honour to be included on the day alongside a team of talented makers. The shoot has since been featured over on Hello May and beyond.
