In The Mood For LOVE

March 01, 2026 by Jamima Wu

This epically moody styled elopement shoot came together like magic.

Wedding planner/stylist Kath from Inner North Studio bursts onto the scene with an Instagram boasting of lush avant garde wedding visuals. So I naturally reached out to connect with her. A couple of weeks later we got chatting about a styled shoot that she’s dreaming up using projections as a background. That immediately reminded me of the Melbourne restaurant Yum Sing in the city where they have the movie ‘In The Mood For Love’ projected on the walls. And just like that the vibe of the shoot shifted and everything instantly became more moody and dramatic.

On the day of the shoot a whole team of creatives came out to play. Kath had her mum and sister on hand to help dress the space and transform the empty canvas that is Smith Street Studios. We had photographer Tom Groom and his buddy Anthony from Dusc Wedding behind the lights and lenses, as well as Elly from SceneBehind creating some BTS social content. Kevin from Soya Florals brought that extra element of natural textures to the scene. I was able to cast real life couple Bon and Lucinda as our beautiful brides for this romantic shoot. And we had the talented make up artist Annie Rose to help all the talent, myself included, shine.

This beautiful shoot just had the best energy as everyone felt trasported and simply in love with the mood of the movie evoking a forbidden romance circa 1920s Shanghai.

A few months later we were proud to have the shoot picked up and showcased over on
Hello May.
